Frequently Asked Questions

Who does Elevate serve?

Many of our clients are transitioning out of a residential mental health treatment setting and most of our clients have experienced a need for intensive mental health support outside the home.  We also provide therapeutic coaching for individuals, parents, and families who have struggled to find adequate support in their local communities. We often work alongside other programs such as IOPs and Residential Treatment Centers providing supplemental support via parent or family coaching.  Our team has extensive experience working with families who have weathered or who are weathering significant or prolonged emotional and behavioral challenges.

Most of our services do not qualify for insurance coverage for several reasons.  We are offering niche coaching services and do not assign a diagnosis to our clients.  In some circumstances, we are able to provide a superbill to submit to your insurance but only if a) your program has been designed for psychotherapy, not coaching and b) you are working with a provider licensed in the state where you reside or c) if you’ve attended our in-person therapeutic programming in Asheville, NC

Are your services covered by insurance?

Yes, one area of specialization at Elevate Family Wellness Programs is helping families with a family member in treatment who may be transitioning home or to a different academic or therapeutic program. Some parts of that process include collaborating with program professionals involved in the family’s case and helping families build, revise, and maintain home agreements.

Does Elevate help families with youth/adolescents/young adults transitioning after treatment?

Yes, all of our coaches have worked with clients with various diagnoses or unique cognitive profiles, including but not limited to Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Mood Disorders, Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD), Attachment Disorders, Substance Use Disorders and many diverse learning styles.

Do the staff at Elevate have experience with neurodiverse clients or clients with psychological diagnoses?

Our coaching practices focus on the encouragement of goal setting, regular self-care habits, communication improvements, accountability to personal goals, insight building, healthy boundaries and collaborative family agreements. Additionally, coaches strive to stay in the present moment with clients, offering solution-oriented strategies rather than delving into the past.

Our coaches will not re-process trauma (i.e. EMDR, Brainspotting), conduct clinical assessments, offer diagnoses, recommend psychotropic medications, or introduce new clinical modalities beyond encouraging clients to use what has already resonated during therapy or at a therapeutic program. For support with needs beyond our areas of practice, a therapist will be recommended.

How are coaching sessions different from therapy?

Does Elevate do in-person sessions?

Yes, depending on the location! For clients/families in areas local to our coaches, we are able to provide in-person sessions and love the opportunity to meet with you. Contact us to see if we are able to do an in-person session!

We also provide in-person family intensives and parent retreats in the Asheville, NC area.

What kind of professional credentials do the coaches have?

All of the Elevate coaches are licensed therapists, with some also maintaining a dual certification in coaching and/or licensure as clinical addictions specialists.

How often would I / my family have sessions?

The amount of sessions we will provide depends on the program that is the best fit for you / your family. We are able to provide anywhere from 1-3 sessions per week, with session content depending on individual needs (individual, parent, or family sessions).

Absolutely, we are happy to schedule a consultation call for time for introductions and determining a good fit.

Can I / my child meet the coach(es) before starting?

On average, clients will complete 1-2 renewals of our Reunion Wraparound and work with us at that level for 2-3 months on average. Because we have multiple step-down or adjusted support options, clients often continue with some level of service for up to one year, depending on circumstances.
