Katie Salmons

I believe in the human need to connect and bond which guides my coaching work. My experience includes working alongside adolescents, young adults, and their families since 2015 to enhance the felt experience of connection. I utilize an attachment-based approach grounded in family systems theory which explores underlying emotions to create moments of healing and growth. I enjoy highlighting the innate resilience of clients and families.

My clinical style is relational, empathetic, and direct with a sprinkle of humor. I utilize a person centered approach grounded in attachment theory, family systems theory, and emotionally focused therapy.

Katie Salmons and family

Post undergrad, Katie worked in psychiatric residential treatment facilities and level III group homes with students ages 12 to 17 with various mental health and substance use diagnoses as a residential counselor and crisis manager for 5 years. This work inspired her to pursue her master’s in social work at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. While working towards her MSW, she interned at an alternative high school, sat as an advocate in Drug Treatment court, led substance abuse intensive outpatient, and joined the local substance-free youth coalition.

Upon finishing her master’s in social work, she received two licenses (Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist), and a Certification in School Social Work. Katie worked at a therapeutic boarding school for AFAB students ages 10-15, from early 2019 until late 2023, and is excited to work at Elevate to continue to help adolescents and families while also being the best auntie to her baby nephews.
